Daniel Jean-Louis

Executive Director

As Executive Director, Daniel Jean-Louis brings a lifelong commitment to transforming Haiti’s development model. Born in Gonaïves, he grew up witnessing the repeated failures of foreign aid. A scholarship from the Baptist Haiti Mission led him to Liberty University, and in 2006 he returned to Haiti with a vision for change.

He co-authored From Aid to Trade (2016) and From Aid to Self-Sustainability (2019), both grounded in research and case studies that challenge traditional aid and advocate for sustainable, locally driven solutions. Daniel has lectured at institutions such as Notre Dame and Tulane, trained development professionals across Latin America, Africa, Europe, and Asia, and consulted with global agencies including the World Bank, USAID, and the Inter-American Development Bank. Liberty University awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2017.

While his work has focused on poverty alleviation, Daniel now writes and speaks about happiness, exploring how personal and community investment can lead to lasting well-being.
